Boy - Outcome Unknown

Name: Boy
Age: Unknown - possibly a few years?
Breed: Possible Cur Mix?
Sex: Male (not altered)
Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Vet Info: Boy hasn't been vetted.  He weighs approximately 45 pounds.  He is not neutered.

Owner Info: Boy is a very handsome and gentle fellow who was likely dumped because he is blind.  He's living in a field and is being fed by a good samaritan who is trying desperately to find him rescue.   She has tried reaching out to several rescues but has not yet had any luck.

Boy's good samaritan writes, "This poor dog was dumped off - he is blind and in need of a rescue that will teach him how to adapt to surroundings. He is not aggressive at all, in fact when the other dogs jump on him for trying to eat, he just rolls over on his back and cries."

Boy is an outdoor dog without restrictions, and she has never witnessed him being aggressive at all. When answering whether the dog has bitten and/or snapped, she writes, "not that I have ever witnessed, all I have ever seen him do in a confronted is run the other way or roll over and lay on his back, until the other dogs leave him alone. I have never seen him even stand up for himself or fight back in anyway."

She gave us more details about Boy. "He is out in an open field where he was dumped and is just so scared, he follows another dog for guidance".  She writes that Boy looks healthy, but, "I am sure that he will need to be fully vetted".

Boy's good samaritan wants us to know, "I am just hoping for this poor dog to be able to get into a rescue and stand a chance of being adopted by a loving, caring family.

I do think he would be good with other dogs, because he stays with the other stray out there and uses him as guidance. I think it will take some time for him to adjust to new surroundings, since he is blind and some people don't realize it and throw things at him and scare him off when they see him. He is going to need a dedicated person to help him learn how to adapt. I would even be able to help or try to cover all of his vetting."

Biscuit - In BDRA Foster Care

Name: Biscuit
Age: Estimated 3 years
Breed: Unknown
Sex: Female (altered)
Location: Nashville/Chattanooga, TN

Update 5/27/16:   Biscuit is at the vet's today being spayed. They are able to keep Biscuit a little bit longer.  I don't believe he has a fenced yard and believe she is being kept outside sleeping on the front porch.  The finder has three outdoor cats so I assume Biscuit is okay with cats but I cannot say how she is with dogs. Biscuit is approximately 50 pounds.

Original Email:  We are a small, very small group of people who volunteer try to help this rural community with pet emergencies, spay/neuter programs, and hold adoption events to try and find loving homes for dogs to keep them out of our extremely high kill shelter. We only have a couple of foster homes for dogs and they are all full and would not be capable of caring for a dog with special needs even if they had room.  Last week we were notified by a couple who had a blind dog dumped by their house they have been feeding her but cannot keep her long term.  As week or so has passed they are now wanting to take her to our high kill shelter where she would not stand a chance.  Our shelter will kill for space so you can imagine a blind dog or any dog with physical limitations would probably be the first on the list.  This breaks my heart this dog, named Biscuit, is approximately three years of age.  She has shown no aggression and seems to be a happy dog despite being blind.  She only has one eye and the remaining eye is clouded.  I found your rescue by doing a search but it showed up for Tennessee but I see on your website you are not from this area.  If you could help maybe transport could be arranged to save this young girls life.  We are located halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga, TN.  If you could help, know anyone that could help, or direct me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Update 5/19/16: Biscuit may be OK with other dogs!  Please read the email below from when she was at the vet's!
"There were a few dogs coming in and out of the vet's while I was at the front desk and she did great. Tail was wagging and she seemed all excited like she wanted to play. No growling or anything even when an old moody chihuahua in the corner starting growling at her."

Booker

Name: Booker
Age: 4 years
Breed: Cockapoo
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: New Berlin, WI

Vet Info: Booker is confirmed neutered.  His owner writes that he is up to date on vaccines, but this has not yet been confirmed.  Booker has not had a heartworm test.  He weighs about 20 pounds.  Booker has had both eyes removed.

Owner Info: Booker is an adorable, cuddly and very sweet young Cockapoo.  Booker's owners contacted us because they are looking for a new home for Booker with less activity and fewer dogs.  They tell us that a quiet home would be best for him, and that because of their jobs, there is too much activity in their home.  They have had Booker for about three years.

Booker is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  He's a smart little fellow and knows basic obedience such as Sit, Down, and Stay.  He's also good with recall.

Booker is good with both men and women, and male and female dogs. His owners write, "He is shy around new dogs, but warms up in a day or two."  His owners do not have cats, but tell us he would be find with them.

Booker does not like to share treats or food, and may grumble at another dog.  He has never grumbled at a person and has never bitten or snapped.

Booker's owners tell us he adapts well to new situations.  "Booker does amazingly well. Several people have asked, 'are you sure he is blind?'"

Booker's owners write that he's in good health, and they gave us more details about his blindness:  "Booker was not born blind but because of an accident/injury he had to have both eyes removed. He could not see when we first adopted him and we tried to help control his pain, but could not and the vet suggested removing his eyes. (This surgery was done by a special vet not the one he is currently seeing.)"

Booker's owners want us to know how much he loves to cuddle!  "Booker is a real sweetheart and would like nothing more than to spend his day on your lap."
