Name: Roxie
Age: 9 years
Breed: Dachshund/Poodle
Mix
Sex: Female (altered per
owner, not yet confirmed)
Location: Davidson County,
TN
Vet Info: Roxie is
spayed per her owner, but this has not yet been confirmed. She is not up
to date on vaccines and has not had a recent heartworm test. Roxie is
almost completely blind. "Her right eye is completely cloudy, and
her left eye is 3/4 of the way. She has some vision up close but uses other
senses to go throughout her day." Her owner also writes that
she's missing a few teeth and has sensitive skin. She weighs about 15
pounds.
Owner Info: Roxie is a
beautiful girl whose owner lost his wife in January to cancer. Because of
that, he has to move in with family members out of state. They are
allergic to dogs, and so he is unable to take Roxie with him. He is
moving in mid-April. He writes, "I am terribly saddened by having
to give her away as she has been a part of our family for almost 10 years.
However, due to these circumstances, I have to find a new home for her. My only
hope is that she can be relocated and happy." Roxie should be
considered urgent.
Roxie is an indoor dog with run of
the house, she is housebroken and leash trained. She's a smart little
girl and knows many commands, including Stop, Come here, Go eat, Go get a
drink, Want a treat, and Need to go outside!
She is good with people of all ages
and cats, but she has never lived with dogs. Her owner gave us more
details: "In response to your question of whether she is good
with other dogs she really hasn't been living with any. She did share her space
with a indoor cat for about 9 years and did fine. I don't think that she is
aggressive but just nervous due to her loss of eyesight and adjusts when she
feels safe."
Roxie is not possessive of toys,
treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped. Her owner writes that
she is very sweet! He also wants us to know that he's desperately hoping
we will have a place for her. "I am desperate in finding a new
home for Roxie where she is loved and taken care of. I don't have any other
options and am hoping that your organization can take her."
