Pickles - In BDRA Foster Care

Name: Pickles
Sex: Female (altered)
Age: 7 years
Breed: English Bulldog
Location: Point Pleasant, NJ

Vet/Medical Info: Pickles is up to date on her rabies and distemper; she had a three year shot for each on 2/23/10. She is HW negative and has been spayed. She has skin issues that are common to English Bulldogs but her skin issues are not contagious. She is on eye drops for life but the vet office is not sure why and they have no diagnosis in their record for her vision loss. Pickles' owner has brought her in regularly for vet care.

Owner Info: DOB November 2005. Pickles is a beautiful English Bulldog who is going blind in both eyes. The owner has two young children and is worried Pickles may bite them by mistake so wants her to be rehomed. The owner has had Pickles since she was 9 weeks old. She weighs 62 pounds and will be 7 years old this November. Pickles is an indoor dog who is house trained and leash trained. She is an outgoing girl who gets along with people. Pickles is not possessive of treats or toys and has never shown aggression toward any person or any animal. The family also owns a tea cup Yorkie. She knows the following commands: sit, no and come here. Pickles adapts well to new situations although, because of her vision loss, may bump into furniture. She takes eye drops during the day and her eyes need to be cleaned each day too. Her owner says she has skin allergies common to English Bulldogs and also has "ear issues." The owner also said that "she is a sweet Bully and I don't really want to have to go this route (to rehome her) but I have a responsibility towards the safety of my children."

Diefenbaker - Adopted

Sex: Male
Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
Age: 2 years
Location: Arlington, WA

Vet/Medical Info: Unable to be verified.

He's friendly, very sweet, good with other animals (including horses and goats!), good with kids, energetic, and playful!!  Def’s Mom is an Australian Shepherd and Dad is a mix breed. Unfortunately, Def's owner is moving and Def needs a new home by tomorrow, 10/5.  A good samaritan is desperately trying to find him a new home. Def’s owner will travel if rescue can be found, but we are not sure how far. The good Samaritan has tried many shelters but they all said they'd euth because he is blind/deaf.

Bear - In Foster Care

Name: Bear
Sex: Male (altered)
Age: 10 years old
Breed: Rottweiler
Location: Bronx, NY

Vet Info: Bear is confirmed neutered.  They had no other relevant info as Bear moved out of the state.

Owner Info: Bear is a nice, blind senior Rottie who has to find a home or rescue. He's 10 years old and blind. He currently lives with another dog in The Bronx NY, and needs a home where he can be worked with to break him in to his new surroundings. He's been in his current home for a long time and he knows where he's going, so he'll have to adjust to his new place. His owner may have to leave the country in February and cannot take him. Bear is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained. Bear knows Sit. Stay. No. Down, and he will listen to a stern NO to stop things.  His owner says that other than his eyes, he is a healthy boy.

Dan - Adopted

Name: Dan
Sex: Male (altered)
Age: Approximately 2 years
Breed: Schnauzer
Location: Clintwood, VA

Vet Info: Dan is up to date on vaccines and is neutered.  His next rabies vaccine is due 8/2013.  Dan has not had a recent heartworm test.  According to his caregiver, he will be neutered on October 10th.  Dan weighs 15 pounds.

Owner Info: Dan is with a very small rescue in Virginia.  They recently rescued him from their local shelter where he was found starved and in very bad shape.  Dan has recovered fully from a skin rash caused by flea and ticks and no proper care. He was in a vet's care for 2 months before they got him.   His foster mom's schedule, however, isn't cooperating with the needs and time Dan needs. They have listed him on their website and FB with no luck.  He is an indoor dog who is crated.  He is not housebroken, but he is leash trained.  Dan knows "come", and is good with people of all ages, and both male and female dogs.  He has never shown any aggression.  He is a wonderful dog who absolutely loves life! :-)

Bo

Name: Bo
Sex: Male (altered)
Breed: Hound Mix
Age: Approximately 7 years
Location: Monroe City, MO

Vet Info: 10/1/12 - Bo had a rabies and distemper in 2009, both are expired.  The vet verified that he is neutered.  The vet had no other information.  Bo has not been to the vet since 2009. Bo weighs about 50 pounds.

Owner Info: Bo lives outside in a pen and – he needs and wants a new home so badly!  Bo is a friendly, medium sized hound who is neutered. He was found as a stray, and the current owner has had him for about 7 years. He is not housebroken but has been in 4-H obedience classes!  He would need some practice to remember what he has learned.  He is good with men, women, and children but would be best as the only pet as he may fight with other dogs.  He really does love people, and loves attention.  One of his eyes is removed and he is blind in the other but his health is good.

Helen - In Foster Care

Name: Helen
Sex: Female (spay not verified although owner believes she is spayed)
Age: 9+ years
Breed: Schnauzer/Poodle
Location: Louisville, KY

Vet Info: Helen weighs 30 pounds.  It is unknown if Helen is up to date on vaccines but if Helen has rescue/adoption, her owner will have her vaccinated.  It is unknown if Helen is spayed.

Owner Info: Helen's caregiver took Helen from a local shelter when she took 4 other dogs, as Helen would have been pts. The other 4 have been placed with local rescues. Helen is still in need of a rescue/adopter or foster home. Helen has limited vision and is 90% deaf...She can see about 15 ft. in front of her in strong daylight but after that, it's questionable. She is about 30lbs and 9 + years old. Somebody had her shaved approximately 8 to 10 weeks ago, but Helen's caregiver has searched the local paper and contacted groomers in the area where Helen was picked up, with no luck.  Helen is an outdoor dog with a fenced yard, she is housebroken and leash trained.  She also has access to her caregiver's garage.  Her caregiver's other dogs are too fast for her, and one of bigger dogs doesn't like Helen.  Helen has never bitten or snapped, and has never shown any aggression.  Her caregiver notes that sudden movements close to her face startle her.  Her teeth are dirty BUT not rotting or absessed.  She believes Helen's eye issues are from cataracts.

Mello - In Memory

Name: Mello
Age: Senior
Breed: Maltese
Sex: Female (altered per owner, not verified)
Location: Charlotte, NC

From her Craig's List posting: Marshmello is a very sweet quiet Maltese who is very calm and rather old. I don't have the heart to put her down because she's such a darling animal. Mello, as we call her, is also going blind and suffers with arthritis. I am unable to continue to give her the care she needs because I started working and don't like leaving her alone. I would like her to have a loving home, where she can relax and receive the love she deserves. She is a perfect lap dog. Free to a good home. We love her and again I can't fathom her being put down. Serious inquires only please.
