Name: Oliver
Age: 6 years
Sex: Male (altered)
Breed: Yellow Labrador
Location: Northeastern Rhode Island
Vet Info: Oliver is confirmed neutered. He
is behind on all shots and they had no HW test on record there. He had
very unregulated diabetes but now is on a good diet, getting his glucose
checked and is getting insulin shots. The vet's office said he is so
easy-going, walks well on a leash, loves belly rubs, no growling ever. They
also said he is an "awesome dog!" Oliver weighs
approximately 50 pounds.
Owner Info: Oliver's owner has been unable to physically and
financially care for Oliver for some time, and his owner is now
hospitalized. Her family is also unable to care for Oliver. If
Oliver is unable to find rescue or adoption, his owner's family writes,
"We are unfortunately going to have to put Oliver to sleep this weekend if
we can't find a place for him". They have also tried
friends and other rescues, but have not had any luck in finding a new home
for Oliver. Oliver has become so obese the last few years that he weighed
120 lbs. Because of this, poor Oliver developed diabetes and then lost all this
weight and now needs to gain weight. He has to receive insulin everyday and has
now become blind due to the diabetes. Oliver has been at the vet
since Monday because they have no place for him to go. Oliver is an
indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He
is good with men, women, children, and other dogs, but they did not check
that he is good with cats. He is not possessive of toys, treats, or food,
and has never shown any aggression. His owner's family writes,
"This is absolutely heartbreaking to me. Oliver is such a sweet
dog....good with all people and other dogs. He just wants to love you. Just the
thought of having to put him down pains me so much...but we are out of options.
Your rescue is our last hope and I'm hoping you can help us. He is the
sweetest boy and has not received the best care the last few years and deserves
to live the rest of his life with proper care and love. PLEASE help us save
Oliver. Thank you".
