Owner
Info: Oscar
is an adorable cocker spaniel whose owner is looking for a new home for him due
to a change in her circumstances. She got married recently and moved into a
smaller apartment and can no longer give him the time and attention she once
could. Oscar is totally blind due to juvenile cataracts. His owner took him in
as a stray when he was a little over a year old. She got married in September
and moved into a small apartment where she can no longer keep all of her dogs.
Oscar and one of her other dogs are currently living at her father’s house
outside in the yard and she no longer has the time to spend with them. Her dogs
have always been outdoor dogs so Oscar is not house-broken but her owner says
she believes he wouldn’t be hard to train. Oscar is leash-trained and loves
going for walks. He also loves to ride in the car and will sit very good during
the ride. When first approached by a strange dog, he is a little standoffish
and has snapped but only at the first meeting. After being properly introduced,
he ignores other dogs. He is good with men, women, teenagers, and children. His
owner has two cats and Oscar is not aggressive with them but his owner writes
“he views cats as big stuffed animals” and can get rough with them so a home
without cats might be best. His owner says he is a very “people-oriented dog”
and thrives on human companionship and “he is the most loving dog I’ve ever
had.” Oscar knows commands, sit, come and walk (leave it). He is an outgoing
dog who can adjust to any situation as long as a person is around.
