Bella - Adopted

Name: Bella
Age: 7 ½ years
Breed: Schnauzer
Sex: Female (altered)
Location: Lexington, KY

Vet Info: Bella is confirmed spayed and UTD on vaccines. Nothing is due until December.

Owner Info: Bella is a beautiful Schnauzer whose owners fly extensively and are not home very often. She constantly has to adjust to an ever changing environment and this has been difficult for her. They believe that Bella needs a stable home situation and are hoping for rescue or adoption for Bella. Previously, Bella belonged to their sister-in-law, who died of cancer, and they've had Bella for 16 months. They write, "We are heartbroken that we must find another home for her as she has been through so much. First she lost her 'mommy' when my sister died 15 months ago. And then she lost her sight 7 months ago. But our living arrangements are not stable and our other Schnauzer who is 11 y.o. is so jealous of any attention that we show Bella that Bella is deprived of the affection she craves and deserves. She often stands in the background as if she is saying 'I won't intrude or be a bother.'" Bella is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is house broken and leash trained. Bella has had agility and obedience training and is a very smart girl who knows many commands! Bella is good with both men and women, but they believe a home without children would be best for her. Bella can be possessive over food and has snapped at another dog over food. Bella's owners gave us more details and write, "Bella gets aggressive over food. She also has had a few occasions of aggression over her toys or when she felt possessive or protective of her 'mommy.' Those are the only 3 scenarios where she has shown aggression. She usually just growls and shows her teeth, but over food has snapped/nipped. By far, the biggest problem is around food/treats. Otherwise she is exceptionally docile and sweet. She has not been aggressive for any other reason(s)." Bella is completely blind and has been diagnosed with SARDS. Other than that, she is a healthy girl who has had regular vet visits. Bella's owners want us to know that "Bella is a loving and dedicated companion. She is intelligent and has extensive training. Bella is very healthy and would be a perfect companion for one person. She is absolutely loyal and craves cuddling and attention."

Age: 6 years
Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Sex: Male (not altered)
Location: Birmingham, AL area

Vet Info: Moses in not neutered.  He is up to date on his vaccines and is next due for rabies, bordetella, and the distemper vaccine in March, 2015.  He is heartworm negative.  Moses weighs approximately 35 pounds.

Owner Info: Moses is an adorable cocker spaniel who was found as a stray. His owner was never located. He is currently with a smaller sized rescue who is hoping for placement with another rescue who has more experience with visually impaired dogs, to help him find the home that he deserves! Moses "is blind from cataracts in one eye and is visually impaired from cataracts in the other eye."  He doesn't seem to have any other health issues.  Moses is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  He is good with both men and women, and male and female dogs!  He's never been around cats, but we're told his current foster "has bunnies loose in the house and he pretty much ignores them.  He's very calm and sweet."   Moses is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped, but will give a warning "growl" if the smaller dogs run up suddenly in his face.  Other than that, he gets along wonderfully with all of the dogs in the house.  He was a good boy for the groomer, too!  They want us to know that he is a love bug, and a happy boy!

Sex: Male (not altered)
Breed: Labrador
Location: Northwest of Boston

Vet Info: There is no vet information at this time.

Owner Info: Bo came from a kill shelter in North Carolina, and has been with a rescue since December, and is currently being fostered. The rescue will be closing soon, and Bo needs a new home. He is housebroken, although tends to mark in the house, and is leash trained, although pulls some on the leash. He also tends to jump up on people, but his current foster mom is working on this. He is an outgoing dog who is good with people of all ages but must be the only pet in the house. The current foster mom said Bo was fine with dogs in his other foster home, but he has bitten both of her dogs, and she had to use all of her weight to pull him off one of her dogs, and she said he would have done serious harm if she had not intervened. She also said: "Bo will settle down nicely in his crate after a walk. He is a good dog, and just wants to be petted all day."

Emma - Adopted

Name: Emma
Age: 4 years
Sex: Female (altered)
Breed: Pitbull/Bulldog Mix
Location: Albany area of NY

Vet Info: Emma is spayed and is up to date on her shots. Her heartworm test was "faintly" positive and the only treatment needed is heartworm preventitive. Emma has small eyes and likely was blind since birth. She is healthy.

Owner Info: Six weeks ago, the current owner rescued Emma and her "seeing eye companion dog" from a hoarder situation in Florida. She was told that Emma was great with other dogs. However, Emma has attacked her companion dog on more than one occasion, and has attacked other dogs in the home, and one time "would not let go." The owner believes she does this out of fear. A rescue tested Emma and said she is not dog aggressive. Emma has never been aggressive to people and is "very gentle" around people. She is an indoor dog and is housebroken and leash trained. She learned her way around her new home quickly. She trusts people and does so well that "you often forget she is blind." Emma is 55 pounds. Right now Emma is being kept separate from the other dogs in her home. She needs a home where she will be the only animal, and she should not be in a home with young children. Her owner said Emma is "happy and healthy."
