Name: Daisy
Age: Estimated 9 months-1 year
Breed: Pit Bull
Sex: Female (not altered)
Location: Muskogee, OK
Vet Info: Daisy is not yet spayed or up to
date on vaccines, but she is confirmed heartworm negative. Daisy weighs
about 52 pounds. Her caregiver writes that she'll have vaccines after she is
well.
Owner Info: Daisy is a lovely girl who was
rescued by a Good Samaritan from a dump. She was very thin, diagnosed
with tick fever and worms, was having seizures, and is completely blind.
There was also evidence of abuse. Daisy is feeling much better and
is gaining weight and her Good Samaritan is hoping Daisy can find rescue or her
forever home! Her caregiver writes, "We
wanted to get her well and find a good home for her, since we already have 4
dogs.. rescued that we love. She is so beautiful, obedient, kennel trained and
sits for you. As of now, she has grown more and has gained almost 15lbs in 3-4
wks. She no longer has seizures..extremely playful..and you could swear she can
almost see her way around..the doctor checked and is not sure if she is
fixed. She is extremely healthy now, except for the blindness..and so sweet. She
stays in the kitchen pretty well.. and plays outside in the fenced in yard. Daisy appears
very healthy presently after treatment of Erlichia. However, the Doctor states
that it will always be in her system and may or may not need treatment as
symptoms arise again." Daisy is an outdoor dog with a fenced yard,
she is housebroken and leash trained. She's a smart girl and knows many
commands, including Stay Down, Sit, No, Potty Outside, Stop, and House (she'll
go inter her kennel). She is good with both men and women, but they keep
her separated from their other dogs due to her health. She can be
possessive with toys, treats, or food, but she has never bitten or snapped.
Her caregiver gave us more details: "We have not exposed her
for a while to the other dogs due to the illnesses. However we have 2 Maltese
dogs that she is fine around but she doesn't always know where they are and
trips over them sometimes. Our older bigger pitbulls are more skeptical as we
introduced her because she plays like a puppy and sometimes that's a bit much,
but in no wise is she aggressive. She doesn't bite and rarely has ever barked.
We have only had her for a month, but she is responding well to training
commands and treats and I'm sure she can be trained to be around other dogs
successfully without being so jumpy. Her play is just basically hopping and jumping
and using her paws." They add that, "she is smart and has
picked up so many commands, playing with a rope toy, running in the yard,
following us, knows the run of her area and the yard.. is very
affectionate!" Her caregiver
describes her eyes as a glowing green except when in the sun, then they
constrict and her beautiful brown eyes can be seen. She does bump into
things, but can follow sound. They tell us that Daisy is a great and
lovable dog and they will miss her when she finds her new home!
Update 4/13/14: Daisy's owner
said she is up to date on her shots now, and still is in need of a home!
Update
6/15/14: Daisy still needs a home! Her owner wrote:
I have
had several people call about her and one of them took her to their firm. But
without a fence it wasn't working out, so she still needs a home. I can't have
her fixed at the moment because since she has come out of heat she is
experiencing false pregnancy symptoms. She is a great dog though. Obedient,
sits and gives paw - very sweet.
