Name: Dozer
Age: 7 years
Breed: Collie Mix
Sex: Male (not altered)
Location: Jacksonville, FL
Vet Info: Dozer is not
neutered and is not up to date on vaccines. His owner writes that he is
heartworm negative, but this has not been confirmed. Dozer weighs about
40+ pounds. His owner writes that he completely blind due to cataracts,
and has been blind about three years.
Owner Info: Dozer is a very
handsome fellow whose owner has to move due to circumstances beyond her
control. She writes that she is brokenhearted, but has lost all options
and is unable to keep Dozer. She has tried to find him a new home but has
had no luck. She writes that she is desperate and is running out of time,
and does not want to have to take him to the humane society. Dozer is an indoor
dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He is a
smart boy and knows many commands, including, Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Go To Your
Room, Bang (play dead), and Paw. He is good with men, women, and
teenagers, and cats! Dozer's owner writes that he is aggressive with
other dogs, and gave more details. "Especially male dogs because
there was an incident with another dog on several different occasions that
attacked him and now he gets nervous around other dogs and immediately goes
into defense mode (and possibly attacks) before the other dog has a chance too.
He can do well around female dogs but he has an issue with humping." She
adds that he will snap or bite if an animal tries to lay near or on him, or
goes near his food. Other than his blindness, his owner writes that he is very
healthy. He does have a bad flea allergy and also drinks a lot, but his
owner writes he's been tested for diabetes and it came back negative. She
is really hoping Dozer can find a family who can spend a lot of time with him!
Update 4/16/15: We've heard from Dozer's owner and she is moving
in about a month. She is very much hoping for rescue before then!
"I am moving around the
middle/close to the end of may. I will say around the 15th. And i am
continuing to search for dozer a home until that day, if i am unsuccessful i
will have to surrender him to the local humane society and im hoping it doesn't
come to that. Hopefully a good home will come around for him."
