Name: Rellie
Age: 12 years
Sex: Female (not altered)
Breed: Chihuahua
Location: Corpus Christi,
Texas
Vet Info: Rellie is
not spayed and is not current with vaccinations. Her rabies, distemper, and
bordatella vaccines were due in February, 2015. She had a negative heartworm
test in 2014 but was also due for heartworm and fecal tests in February, 2015.
Her vet’s office had no information about her vision issues. Rellie weighs 3
pounds. Her owner writes, “Other than being blind Rellie is completely
healthy, never had any puppies but is missing some teeth.”
Owner Info: Rellie is an
adorable Chihuahua whose owner can no longer take care of her the way
she deserves. She recently started college and her mother adopted a baby and
now they are moving and their new home will not allow pets. They have had to
re-home their other two dogs but have not had any luck finding a new home for
Rellie. Rellie is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house. She is not
housebroken but she is leash-trained. Rellie can be nervous. When asked for
further information how she is with people, Rellie’s owner said she is
good with people. She does not snap at anyone unless she is being
poked at constantly or not left alone after she has given warnings. She used to
get nervous around small children, however over the years she has not been in
much contact with them especially since she became blind so I cannot tell for
sure if they still make her nervous but the possibility is a bit high, she does
not snap at children but she will growl to give a warning. After some time she
might warm up to the kids if they are not too rough, it is not that she
dislikes kids just that she is somewhat scared of them. I am not sure why, she
had a home for about two years before she came into my possession so it might
be from that time that she became that way. Rellie is not possessive
of toys, treats, or food. Her owner says it takes time for her to warm up to
another dog. She’ll keep her distance and hide but once she is comfortable she
is not aggressive at all. Rellie’s owner said Rellie started bumping into
things around a year ago. The vet did not find anything wrong and a few months
later she could not see. Now when you call her she doesn't have much sense of
direction. But she learns her surroundings and manages to figure out her way
around. She wants us to know Rellie is a great dog who deserves a wonderful
home for her older years!
