Name: Ringo
Age: DOB March,
2009
Breed: Husky Mix
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: Lansing, MI
Vet Info: Ringo is
confirmed neutered and up to date on vaccines. He received a three-year
rabies vaccine on 7/2/13. He is heartworm negative. Ringo weighs
about 60 pounds.
Owner Info: Ringo is a
gorgeous fellow whose owner is not able to keep him. He writes, "It
is felt that keeping him around could be a danger to the baby in our home, as
she won't understand how to give him the space he needs."
Ringo's owner loves him dearly and is desperately hoping for
rescue. He tells us, "I need your help. Please. I
need somewhere that will love him and give him what he needs." Ringo
is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash
trained. Ringo knows the commands, Sit, Stay, and Lay Down. Ringo
is described as nervous, but is good with both men and women. He
currently lives with another dog and cat, and his owner gave us more details:
"He also tends to be friendly towards other animals, as long as
they are also slowly introduced. As far as I can remember, in the six years I
have had him, there has only been one dog he didn't get along with. Of course,
the other dogs he is around are mostly female, and the one male he is around,
the one that lives with us, is very submissive. I'm not sure how he would react
to a more aggressive male, so perhaps be wary of that." Ringo is
possessive of food while he is eating, and may bark or snarl if someone bothers
him while he is eating. He may also bark or growl at new people in the
home, but his owner writes, "He has never attacked anyone. He always
becomes acclimated to new people very quickly after meeting them, and he has no
problem with new people when he is out on walks and such. He never becomes
friendlier towards people near his food, though." Ringo is completely blind. Other than
his blindness, Ringo's owner tells us he is in good health. He doesn't
recall the exact cause of Ringo's blindness, but tells us, "I believe
the cause of his blindness was stated to be some sort of genetic disease.
Something common in German Shepherds if I remember correctly, but I do not
recall what it was specifically." Ringo's owner wants us to know that
he is a very special and loving boy, who just needs a few precautions when
meeting new people, but will make it up with lots of love! "Ringo
can seem aggressive at first, but if you take just a few precautions when
introducing him to people he will become one of the friendliest and lovable
dogs you've ever met. As stated before, you have to make sure you don't let
people mess with him while he eats. Please don't let that change your view of
him to an angry or unpredictable dog. He is very calm and quiet most of the
time. The only time he even really barks is if someone new comes into his home
or if he gets excited about you taking him outside. I guarantee, anyone who
ends up with this dog will almost immediately fall in love with him."
