Name: Zoey
Age: 3 years
Breed: White
Shepherd Mix
Sex: Female (will
be altered shortly)
Location: Horry County, SC
Vet Info: Zoey is not
yet spayed, but is scheduled to be spayed shortly. Her rescuer gave her
the 9-way vaccination, but she has not yet been vetted. Zoey weighs about
25 pounds.
Owner Info: Zoey (also known
as Winter) is a beautiful girl with a very sad history. Her rescuer
writes that she was found almost dead on her doorstep, and that they believe
Zoey was, "Abandoned, beaten, starved, left for dead, we believe she
was used as a bait dog, sexually assaulted, her teeth are all broken..."
Her rescuer is very much hoping to find Zoey rescue or a home of her own!
Zoey is an indoor dog confined to one
area of the house. She is housebroken, but not leash trained. She
is good with women and children, and both male and female dogs, however Zoey is
skittish due to her history, and her rescuer writes that she is kept separate
from the other dogs. "...she is kept separate because she had
been through torture & is afraid. Sometimes she stays with a few of the
dogs she gets along with but she is very skittish....She barks at some
dogs because she was used as a bait dog. She especially does not like pit
bulls, she is skittish of men. We believe she was also sexually abused."
Zoey is not possessive of toys,
treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped. She is somewhat anxious,
and her rescuer gave us more details: "She has anxiety because of
what abuse she went through, she needs to learn how to trust, very scared."
Zoey is partially blind, and her vision is getting worse. Her
rescuer writes, "She is definitely partially blind and getting worse.
Her eyes are small & closed quite a bit."
Zoey's rescuer would love for Zoey to
have her second chance! She writes, "This dogs life needs to be
saved, we believe she needs more care than we have to offer. We nursed her back
to eating & having her gain wait, but if someone does not truly have her
vetted I don't know how much of a chance she will have We just don't get any
funding to do this. We take care if the dogs on our own & don't have the
money to get the care she needs."
