Name: Lucy
Age: 8 years
Breed: Maltese /
Schnauzer Mix
Sex: Female (altered)
Location: Cincinnati,
OH area (KY)
Vet Info: Lucy is
confirmed spayed. She is next due for vaccines on 2/16/17, and was
heartworm and fecal negative on 2/17/16. Lucy weighs about 15 pounds.
Owner Info: Lucy is an
adorable little girl who was diagnosed with SARDS about two years ago.
Her owner had help at the time and was able to meet Lucy's needs, but she no
longer has help and is not home often. She knows she will be unable to
care for Lucy and is hoping to rehome Lucy very soon. Lucy's owner writes
that she is
completely blind. She also
tells us that Lucy has a lump on the side of her stomach that the vet says is
fatty tissue.
Lucy is an indoor dog with run of the
house, she is housebroken but not leash trained, although her owner writes that
if she's left alone for too long, she will pee/poop in the house. Lucy
knows the commands Sit and Wave! She is a friendly little
girl, and is good people of all ages, and male and female dogs. She currently
lives with a hedgehog. We asked if Lucy was good with cats, and her owner
wrote, "She has never been around cats, so I do not know how she would
respond. I do have a hedgehog and she doesn't bother her in the slightest. She
wants to sniff her, but nothing more."
Lucy is not possessive of toys,
treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped.
Her owner told us Lucy likes to have
her cage open and available to lay and sleep in, and may not like when other
animals go near. She gave us more details: "Her crate stays
up and open and always has. She only growls when other animals (not people) get
near it. She has never bitten anyone. My cousin and her five year old are
currently staying with me and my three year old niece is here all the time and
she has never shown any aggressive tendencies towards them."
Lucy will need time to adapt to a new
situation, and her owner tells us it may be rough for Lucy in the beginning.
"I am nervous about this because when we go to a new place she
cries/howls when I am not around, I crate her and eventually she stops and I
think she would adjust, given the time but I think starting in a new place
would be rough."
Lucy's owner is very much hoping we
can help and wants us to know Lucy is a very sweet little girl. " She
is very sweet, just too much for me and the lifestyle I have ended up being
forced into..."
