Name: Denali
Age: 9 months
Sex: Male (altered)
Breed: Akita
Location: Western New York
Vet Info: Denali is confirmed
neutered and is current with vaccinations. Denali weighs 80 lbs. He is mostly
blind (about 10% vision) from birth.
Owner Info: Denali is a young
Akita whose owner 's circumstances have changed and she can no longer give him
the time and space she had wanted to. Denali was adopted as a puppy and his
owner is having trouble finding a new home for him. The breeder did not want him
back when they found out he was blind. He is an outdoor dog with a tie-out but
he is also house-broken and leash-trained. He goes to doggie daycare three
times a week and they work on basic commands there; he knows stay, sit, lay
down and he's working on come! His owner says he is shy and very“people-picky”
but once he gets to know them by smell, he is fine. He has never been around
small kids. His owner says she is nervous to allow them around him. He is
currently living in a house with three shih-tsus who Denali does not get along
with. There have been fights with the smaller dogs but no incidents with broken
skin. His owner says that Denali is a really good boy who loves to play and
have his belly rubbed. He just needs the right person to handle him.
