Name: Luke
Age: 4 years
Breed: White German Shepherd/Labrador
Mix?
Sex: Male (confirmed altered)
Location: Phoenix, AZ area
Vet Info:
Luke is
confirmed neutered and is up to date on vaccines. He is next due for the rabies
vaccine on 3/20/17 and the distemper vaccine in March, 2015. Luke weighs about
65 to 70 pounds. Luke had bloodwork a few months back to check his liver and
kidneys, and his owner said that everything was normal.
Owner
Info: Luke was
rescued from a high kill shelter and has been with his owner for about six
months. He is blind in his right eye (it is black and much smaller than his
left eye) and his owner thinks he may have some brain damage from prior abuse.
He is not doing well with the other male dogs in the home and his owner
believes a less stressful home where he is the only dog would be best for Luke.
She is very much hoping for rescue. Luke is an indoor dog with run of the
house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He's good with people of all ages
and is not possessive of toys, treats, or food, but he does show aggression
towards his owners' other dogs (all male). His owner writes that he attacks the
other dogs out of fear, but Luke has NEVER shown aggression towards a human. She
wants us to know, "I feel Luke would do best where he is the only dog. I
know that is hard to find but I feel he would be much happier and less stressed
if he was the only dog."
Update 10/13/14: We've received an update from Luke's owner! He'll be seeing an ophthalmologist next week as their vet is concerned there may be something going on with his eyes. The vet has also suggested starting Luke on medication to see if it helps him with "lashing out at our other dogs." They will keep us updated!
