Name: Rocky
Age: 8 years
Sex: Male (not altered)
Breed: Chihuahua
Location: Connecticut
Vet Info: Rocky has no vet, and the owner does not have the financial means to
take Rocky to a vet.
Owner Info: Rocky was in the streets and then found by his current owner about
five months ago. They really love Rocky but they cannot afford any vet bills so want
him to have a new home. Rocky is about 8 years old and weighs about 15 pounds.
He is not housetrained or leashtrained. He is not current with vaccinations and has not been
neutered. They wrote on 10/27/14: "Rocky has been good with the people that have been around him,
stranger or well known. He hasn't been around any male dogs or cats in the 5
months we've had him (so they know he is good around female dogs, because they
have one, but no sure about male dogs and cats). He's been around children,
teens & adults and what he does is ignore everyone cause he can't hear
them. He's calm, not friendly, but not snappy either. When we first rescued
him, we noticed that he couldn't hear, he was blind (although he does jump when
he sees movement, so perhaps does see some) and that his hips weren't
functioning correctly. He can't walk up or down the stairs, and he always falls
to his left side, like he has no control over how he sits. His backside has
gotten very bad within the last week, he keeps on chewing away, we're very
worried. I am buying a cone today so he can resist the chewing/pulling. We
checked for fleas before we let him inside our house. To my knowledge he has
none. He paces in circles all day. He eats and drinks very well! When it comes
to house training, we tried to get him familiar with newspaper, but it hasn't
really worked. Plus he's deaf so I don't think we're doing a good job training
a dog that can't hear us. It's very hard. Please help!"
