Name: Jake
Age: Approximately 5
years
Breed: Chow Mix
Sex: Male (not altered)
Location: Roanoke, VA
area
Vet Info: Jake is not yet
able to be neutered due to being heartworm positive. Jake weighs about 50
pounds. On 6/2/15, his rescuer gave us an update... "He is doing
well…doesn’t seem to be having any issues with the pre-treatment. Has had
one Heart Guard and is taking Doxycycline and Prednisone. Anticipating
doing the first injection in about 45 days."
Owner Info: Jake is a
gorgeous blind Chow Mix who was rescued from a shelter by a very kind-hearted
person the day before he was to be euthanized. She has several dogs of her own
and is going through some difficulties personally, but he was so friendly and
tugged at her heart, she couldn't let him die in the shelter. Jake has
since tested positive for heartworm and she is doing everything she can, but is
desperately hoping for rescue for sweet Jake so he can have a home where he can
get "more attention, especially with his special needs."
Jake is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash
trained. Jake is a very friendly and sweet fellow, and is good with both
men and women, male and female dogs, and cats. He has not been around
children. Jake is not possessive of toys, treats, or food, and has never
shown any aggression. His rescuer writes that he seems to adapt well to
new situations, and even when he bumps, he just re-navigates and continues on.
His rescuer gave us more details about Jake's eyesight. Jake has an
"inherited degenerative disease that usually occurs around years 1 to
5. Chance Jake had sight for a while; adapts quickly to new
surroundings". Jake's rescuer wants us to know he's a real
sweetheart! "He is such a lovable teddy bear. Still hoping
for a spot for him with your group or a home!"
