Jack - In Foster Care

Name: Jack
Age: 5 ½ years
Breed: Cairn Terrier
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: San Diego, CA area

Vet Info: Jack is confirmed neutered.  He was given distemper, parvo and lepto vaccines on 5/1/14 and is next due for his rabies vaccine on 3/18/16.  Jack is diabetic and is currently on 11 units of insulin twice a day, but is due for blood work to determine if his insulin dosage needs to be changed.  Jack weighs 34 pounds.

Owner Info: DOB 11/19/2008. Jack is a very sweet and handsome boy whose owner has just gone into assisted living that doesn't allow pets.  Her family is unable to keep Jack for more than two weeks.  Jack needs a new home or rescue very quickly!  They have reached out to every rescue and sanctuary they have found online, with no luck, and they write they are getting desperate!  He appears completely blind from cataracts. Jack's original owner got him from a breeder when he was 6 weeks old.  He is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Jack is good with people of all ages and both male and female dogs.  They tell us he gets along with everyone!  Jack is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never shown any aggression.  His current caregiver writes, "He is the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met. I am not an "animal person", but I adore this guy. Unfortunately due to his medical conditions, my 4 children and a very jealous chihauhua, we cannot keep him ourselves...."   They are getting desperate, and are hoping to find a new home or rescue for Jack as soon as possible!

Update 5/31/2014: We've heard from Jack's current caregiver, and unfortunately, he'll be euthanized if rescue or a new home isn't found within two weeks.  His insulin runs out in two weeks, and they are unable to afford his medical bills or the expensive lab work the vet requires to refill his insulin.  They've also sent us new photos.  Jack is precious!
