Archie - Adopted

Name: Archie
Age: 10 years
Sex: Male (altered)
Breed: Blue Heeler Mix
Location: Dallas, TX

Vet Info: Archie is up to date on shots. He is neutered. His most recent vet check stated that he is in "great condition." He is HW negative. He is blind, caused by "possible detached retinas."

Owner Info: Archie's owner recently died, and her daughter-in-law is trying hard to find a new home for him. She said he is a neutered Blue Heeler mix who is used to being an indoor dog with the run of the house. He is housebroken and leash-trained, and used to know some commands but no one has had time to spend with him lately to see what he knows now. He is an outgoing dog who would be happier being the only pet in the house When he lived with another dog, sometimes there would be fights between the dogs but he has never bitten or snapped at a person. Archie gets along with men and women and older kids, and it is probably best that he not be in a home with young children. The daughter-in-law doesn't know much about Archie's medical history except that he is blind. She wrote up the following information about him: Sweet ol' Archie has been through a lot lately. His favorite person passed away. Now Archie's hoping to find himself in a new loving and forever home. Archie is around 10 years old and enjoys every day to the fullest. He is believed to be completely blind but with a good leader he gets around just fine. Although it's hard for a special-needs guy like him to find a special, compassionate person to love him, we know that person is out there. Archie has so much life left! He certainly doesn’t act like a senior dog. He is very healthy and up to date on all vaccines. Although a little overweight at 68 lbs, with a regular balanced diet and some exercise, Archie can be at his ideal weight in no time. Archie would love his new potential family to know that he likes walking. He has not had many walks in his lifetime, but would love for them to be a part of his daily routine. He follows voices and stomping of feet when taking a step is necessary. Archie will thrive in a house where he is the only pet. Archie’s previous owner was ill and not able to give him the attention that he deserved. So he wants a home where he will be the one and only. Archie has one of the best personalities. Is there someone out there willing to open their hearts to a guy that is just down on his luck?
