Pickles - In BDRA Foster Care

Name: Pickles
Sex: Female (altered)
Age: 7 years
Breed: English Bulldog
Location: Point Pleasant, NJ

Vet/Medical Info: Pickles is up to date on her rabies and distemper; she had a three year shot for each on 2/23/10. She is HW negative and has been spayed. She has skin issues that are common to English Bulldogs but her skin issues are not contagious. She is on eye drops for life but the vet office is not sure why and they have no diagnosis in their record for her vision loss. Pickles' owner has brought her in regularly for vet care.

Owner Info: DOB November 2005. Pickles is a beautiful English Bulldog who is going blind in both eyes. The owner has two young children and is worried Pickles may bite them by mistake so wants her to be rehomed. The owner has had Pickles since she was 9 weeks old. She weighs 62 pounds and will be 7 years old this November. Pickles is an indoor dog who is house trained and leash trained. She is an outgoing girl who gets along with people. Pickles is not possessive of treats or toys and has never shown aggression toward any person or any animal. The family also owns a tea cup Yorkie. She knows the following commands: sit, no and come here. Pickles adapts well to new situations although, because of her vision loss, may bump into furniture. She takes eye drops during the day and her eyes need to be cleaned each day too. Her owner says she has skin allergies common to English Bulldogs and also has "ear issues." The owner also said that "she is a sweet Bully and I don't really want to have to go this route (to rehome her) but I have a responsibility towards the safety of my children."
