Snowy - Staying With Owner

Name: Snowy
Age: 15 years
Breed: Mixed breed but looks like a bichon
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: New Brunswick, NJ area

Vet InfoSnowy is confirmed neutered, but they were unable to confirm his vaccines or heartworm status. Snowy weighs 25 - 27 pounds.

Owner Info: Snowy's owner has a business that is two hours away. The last few years she has been staying near her work several nights a week. Until this year she has hired people to come in to her house to feed and take care of Snowy, but this past year she has had very unreliable people and has been forced to put Snowy in a kennel weekly. He actually spent two months straight there this winter. It is not the life she wants for him nor he deserves. Now they are moving and can not take him with them.  They are hoping Snowy can find the wonderful home he deserves.  Snowy is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Snowy can be somewhat shy and has had no real experience with other animals.  I asked her how she thought he would be with other animals and she wrote, "His behavior is that of a senior. He wouldn't bother with any other animal. If they start with him I think he would go in the other direction. If they don't approach him he probably wouldn't see them or know that they are there..." He has "natural vision loss due to aging".  Snowy knows the commands "sit" and "down" (for lay down).  Snowy is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never shown any aggression.  His owner writes, "Snowy's hearing is not great. He sees shadows and hears whistling and hand clapping. He gets around our house very well. Sometimes running. He has lots of energy. The vet and kennel can not believe his age. I belive he will still live a long time. He has no illness' and gets around fine. He needs a quiet home. He doesn't want a lot attention. He wants to eat and sleep and go out for plenty of exercise. We have a large fenced in yard. He goes out many times a day and he is a happy well adjusted dog. However young children or people running makes him nervous. He is a sweet dog with a wonderful temperment and needs a calm home. He doesn't want or need a lot of attention just to have his basic needs taken care of and a pat on the head now and then."
