Sinatra - Adopted

Name: Sinatra
Age: Estimated 2+ years
Sex: Male (confirmed altered)
Breed: Catahoula Mix?
Location: Chicago, IL

Vet Info: Sinatra is confirmed neutered. He is current on vaccinations. According to his current owner, Sinatra had a negative heartworm test by his previous owner but this could not be verified. Per his owner, Sinatra has Microphthalmia. “He was born with his eyes too small for the sockets. His right eye is unobstructed, but does have signs of cataracts. His left eye is partially obstructed by the inner eye lid. Because his eyes are so small, he cannot push them out far enough to have the inner eye lid fall.” He is also partially deaf. Sinatra weighs 30 pounds.

Owner Info: Sinatra is at his fourth home in his young life. His current owners rescued him after he was abandoned by his previous owner at a doggie day care about a year ago. Their work schedules do not allow time for the care he needs. They say he is he is in overall great health, a very strong, muscular, athletic dog who loves to run and go on walks.

Sinatra is an indoor dog with run of the house. He is housebroken and leash-trained. He knows commands, sit, come, and stay. Sinatra is described as nervous and good with men, women, teenagers and kids, as well as cats. Sinatra lives in a house with two other dogs. He has never shown aggression toward anyone but his owner says, “it takes him a while to warm up o others, based on his lack of sight and hearing.” In response to our question about adapting to new environments and situations, Sinatra’s owner said, “We feel he does, it just takes him a few hours to gain awareness of his surroundings. He loves to cuddle under a blanket so if you have one of those, he will be happy as a clam.”

Sinatra’s owners also say he is an absolute sweetheart! “He loves to cuddle, play tug, and throw socks in the air. He lives to be under the blankets, it's his favorite thing. He is not completely blind or deaf and quite young still. He would be a great addition to any family as he stole our hearts, and the hearts of anyone he meets.
