No Name Australian Shepherd Mix - Reunited With Owner

Name: No name
Sex: Female (we have not been able to verify if she is altered or not)
Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix
Age: Age unknown, Senior
Location: Bakersfield, CA

Vet/Medical Info: Dog is missing her right eye and has corneal scarring over two thirds of cornea on left eye. In one part of notes it said she does not appear deaf, but then in another part it says blind and deaf, receptionist was not sure if she's deaf as well. She has severe dental disease, no arrhythmias noted. They noted a 2-inch lipoma-like mass on left axillary region. Metal sutures were palpable in abdominal wall, she didn't know if that meant dog was spayed or not.

Owner Info: On 1/28/2012 an older dog was found on a good samaritan's porch - she is missing one eye and mostly blind in the other, possibly deaf. She had a collar with a tag from a vet, they called it but it turned out to be a dead end. They are going to continue looking for her owners (they had her scanned for a microchip, there wasn't one), they don't hold out much hope of finding them. They have contacted several animal rescues in their area (Bakersfield SPCA and Alpha Canine), neither had room for her. They have her inside, confined to one area of the house, she appears to be housebroken. They have found her to be good with people and good with other dogs. She briefly met their cat and showed no aggression towards it. She seems to adapt well and has quickly bonded with them. She is missing her right eye and has what the emergency vet described as an old injury to her left eye. She appears to be able to distinguish light and dark, but they don't think she can see much. She is very affectionate and loving and despite her physical limitations, she seems to have a lot of life left in her. They only hope she can find a place that can give her the love and care she needs and deserves. They already have three dogs (the legal limit in their area) and a cat and are stretched to the limit taking care of them.
