Sister

Name: Sister
Age: 1 year
Breed: Border Collie
Sex: Female (not altered)
Location: San Luis Obispo, CA area

Vet Info: Sister is not spayed.  She is not up to date on vaccines and has not been heartworm tested, although her owner is willing to pay for vaccines and heartworm testing. She has a diagnosis of cortical blindness of unknown cause, with head trauma in her past.  Her opthamologist's office noted that her eyes look completely normal, but that she is unable to see.

Owner Info: DOB July 2012. Sister is a beautiful border collie whose owners live on a working farm and do not have the time or proper yard to care for her.  Her owner writes, "Sister is a 1 year old Border Collie. At the age of 5 weeks, she was attacked by an adult dog. The attack crushed her skull. She lost her sight and was deaf, for some time. She has regained her hearing. The Veterinarian diagnosed her with Cortical Blindness. She has functioning eyes, but is unable to see due to the damage to her Cerebral Cortex. The Veterinarian thought she might possibly regain her sight with time. The injury occurred approx. 1 year ago and sadly, there is no sign of recovery. She is very smart and very loving. We owned some of her ancestors and she is the last of her line. I do not believe it would be fair to breed her in her condition. She is such an exceptional dog and deserves so much more!"  Sister is an outdoor dog on a tie-out, she is not housebroken but is leash trained.  Sister knows the command, "down".  She is great with people of all ages and both dogs and cats.  Sister is not possessive of toys, treats, or food, and has never shown any aggression.  Her owner says that she has a very easy going temperament!  Other than her blindness, her owner notes she is healthy and happy.
