Vet Info: Mattie is confirmed neutered. He is next due for his rabies vaccine on
4/28/15. Mattie was tested in 2013 and was heartworm negative. Mattie weighs 50
pounds.
Owner Info: DOB 4/9/2006. Mattie is a very handsome puggle whose owners are
disabled and are unable to pick him up to take him outside or to the vet. In
the summer, they live in the woods and this poses a hazard to Mattie. This is a
very difficult decision for them and they love him very much, but they are
unable to "take care of him the way he will need". The cause of
Mattie's blindness is not known, but their vet told them he was blind, and they
cannot afford to see an ophthalmologist. They write that Mattie is currently in
good health, but a little overweight. Mattie is an indoor dog with run of the
house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He knows sit, stay, and come!
Mattie is good with people of all ages and both male and female dogs, and cats!
He currently lives with a cat now. Mattie has never shown any aggression, and
is not possessive of toys, treats, or food. Mattie's owners say that he adapts
well to new situations, and write, "Previously when we have gone away
Mattie has stayed with friends and family and has always adapted very well. He
fits in very well with other families." They want us to know that Mattie
is a special boy. They write,, "We love Mattie very much and this is very
difficult for us and him. We do not want to give him up, but we don't see any
other options. We want the best for him."
