Owner Info: Chewy is an adorable Basenji whose owners have decided to re-home him because they can no longer meet his needs. Chewy suffers from hypothyroidism and needs constant access to water and the outdoors so he can relieve himself. Chewy’s owner works very long hours and is not able to take him outside every couple of hours. They feel that Chewy needs a home with a fenced yard due to his urinary incontinence so he can have freedom to exercise and play outdoors. Chewy has been with his owners almost his whole life. He is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house; he is housebroken and leash-trained. Chewy’s owner described him as good with men, women, and teenagers, as well as cats and female dogs. He said since losing his eyesight within the past two months, he has been very confused. He has nipped at a friend once when the friend pushed him out of his corner of the couch but it was “nothing major.” Chewy's owner also says that Chewy has extreme anxiety issues and doesn't do well in a crate. Chewy’s owner says, “This will be one of the hardest things that I have had to do in my life , my wife and I love him so much but because of love we feel that finding a good home for him is the best and unselfish thing to do.”
