Hank - Adopted

Name: Hank
Age: 8 years
Breed: Puggle
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: San Antonio, TX area

Vet Info: Hank is confirmed neutered and up to date on vaccines.  He is heartworm negative.  Hank weighs about 28 pounds.  Hank has been diagnosed with SARDS and appears completely blind.

Owner Info:  Hank is a very handsome puggle in need of rescue.  He belonged to a family member since he was a puppy, but the family had one infant with another on the way, and they were moving out of state.  A decision was made to bring Hank to southern Texas where he would see an ophthalmologist and stay with his current caregivers while they look for a new home for him.  Hank's current caregivers have two other dogs and work full time, and they realize Hank needs "better living conditions immediately as he will need to be kenneled most of the day...".  Hank is an indoor dog who is crated, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Hank is a friendly fellow, and good with people of all ages, male and female dogs, and cats!  He currently lives with two other dogs.  Hank has never bitten or snapped.  His caregivers gave us more details about whether Hank has shown any aggression: "Hank has only recently shown signs of a slight change of agitation but due to additional dogs in temporary home and SARD's blindness this is expected. Hank has always been very docile and interactive with anyone who is in the room." Hank's caregivers feel he adapts well to new situations and surroundings, and write, "Hank has adapted well to the temporary home as this home sits on 2 acres and is fenced. He loves sitting in the sun outside and enjoys being inside wandering the rooms or sitting where people are. Hank has difficulty in finding the doors to re-enter the home and providers have to place food/water bowl and outside water bowl in a specific spot and Hank has been able to locate it independently." Other than SARDS, Hank's caregivers tell us he's healthy.  "Hank's limitation in climbing stairs and confusion was due to his physical weight gain and lack of eye sight. Hank has been given a clean bill of health and his SARDS is the only health concern. Hank has been years past a very active and engaged companion and continues to adapt." Hank's caregivers are very much hoping Hank will be able to find rescue and receive the care and attention he deserves.  "A foster home would help Hank as the current surroundings and lack of one on one attention is limiting Hank from learning how to adapt to his recent blindness and concern with prolonging help may continue to deteriorate his overall wellness."
