Trigger - Adopted

Name: Trigger
Age: 7 1/2 years
Breed: German Shepherd
Sex: Female (altered)
Location: Seattle, WA area

Vet Info: Trigger is confirmed spayed and up to date on vaccines.  She has not been heartworm tested.  Trigger weighs about 80 pounds.

Owner Info: Trigger is a beautiful girl who was rescued from a neglectful home.  Her owners thought they could keep her and integrate her with their other dogs, but they are having a hard time with each other.  Trigger's owners would love for her to have a safe and loving home where she can be happy and get the love and attention she needs.  When Trigger was first rescued, she had eye ulcers, an ear infection, and was almost unable to walk because of a lack of medical care.  Her owners tell us she is now medically stable and ready for her new home!  Trigger is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.  Trigger is a smart girl and knows many commands, including, Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Let's Go Home (when outside), Come, and Go For A Ride!  She is described as outgoing, good with people of all ages, and other dogs and cats.  She is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped. Her owners gave more details about how she is with the other dogs in the home:  "She does not seem to be possessive with things... she is however insistent for love and attention. She will try to get between us and the other dogs to get pets and love.  she loves to be petted and lay close. Sometimes right on your lap or close to it!   She follows us everywhere, including the bathroom!  :-)   Just starved for affection and attention.  Our 2 year old female shepherd gets very jealous and tries to get her to move which startles Trigger.  We have tried and tried to keep the peace but our 2 year old is not giving an inch.  Our 8 month old just wants to play constantly and she is not really used to that either, so she leaps away.  She wants to play tho and follows our three to run a little to play stick.  We think she was left alone for many hours at time because she wants to be so close.  Her vision problem causes some chaos with our dogs - she can't always figure out what's going on.  She has played well with our dogs outside and with our neighbors dogs and their kids.  She particularly loves our neighbors little 5 year old." Trigger has limited vision, and her owners gave us more details about how well she can see:  "She has very limited blood flow to the Optic nerve. Retina's appear deformed and very evident pannus in both eyes. She does not have a Tapetum Lucidum (which means she has no night vision). The vet concluded her vision was very limited. Its very evident that she has limited vision as she walks into fences, doors, other items until she learns her way around."  They also tell us that once she gets used to her surroundings, she relaxes.  Aside from her vision, her owners write that she is now clean, well groomed, and in good health!
