Vet Info: Humphrey has had no recent vetting and is not up to date on vaccines.  He has not been heartworm tested.  They are unsure why he went blind.  Humphrey weighs 80 pounds.

Owner Info: Humphrey is a St. Bernard/Boxer mix that went blind about 5 months ago.  His owners got him from a shelter when he was a puppy and he is about 8 years old.  Unfortunately, the husband was in a major motorcycle accident in September and sustained multiple injuries which include brain function and vision disability.  As a result, their blind dog Humphrey has become a  safety concern for the husband as he is still very active and tries to be playful.  Also as a result of the accident, they are unable to give Humphrey the care he needs and deserves and his safety is also a concern.  In addition, their financial situation is very bad at this time because the husband is not working so caring for their animals has become impossible.  Humphrey is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Humphrey is good with people of all ages, including children.  Humphrey is not aggressive with toys, treats, or food, and has never bitten or snapped at anybody.  Since he went blind he runs into and steps on their other dog who then becomes aggressive towards Humphrey.  They do growl at each other when they are fed however. He doesn't really have much interaction with the cats but seems to mostly ignore them when they are around each other.  Humphrey was always a playful puppy type dog before he went blind.  Humphrey's owner adds that he is a happy playful dog who has become nervous and depressed since he went blind and has also now lost his best friend, her husband.  Their wish is for him to be well cared for and happy and they pray that they will be able to find a home for him that can provide that. They add that they absolutely hate the idea of giving him up but do not have any other choice and they know it is the right thing to do for Humphrey.
