Christie - In BDRA Foster Care

Name: Christie
Sex: Female (not altered)
Breed: Poodle
Age: Approximately 8 – 10 years
Location: Central Arkansas

Vet Info: Christie is not spayed.  She is confirmed heartworm negative, and also tested negative for ehrlichia and lyme.  Christie received one year rabies and Da2pp vaccines on 11/29, so would not be due until 11/29/13.  Blood sugar is normal, but Christie's bloodwork showed she is anemic, so her caregiver will start giving her iron pills.  The receptionist commented about how adorable Christie is!  Christie weighs about 10 pounds.

Owner Info: Christie is a completely blind (due to cataracts) senior poodle.  Christie was found as a stray a couple of weeks ago and no one has come looking for her.  She was in very bad condition - matted and covered in fleas. The original finder posted her free on craigslist, and her current caregiver saw her ad and rescued her before she could become a bait dog.  She is safe in that home now but it is very temporary as they are over the pet limit and the local shelter will not work with them and allow them to keep her.  Christie is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.  She is good with adults and teenagers, male and female dogs, and cats.  The only time she has ever shown any kind of aggression was when the vet was drawing blood.  He was holding onto her head and she panicked and snapped at him.  Christie gets worried if you try to restrain her head.   She has never once snapped or growled or tried to bite her caregiver at all and she is fine with cupping her head in your hand.  Her caregiver says she was a very good girl for her grooming!  ..."wagging her little nub and giving me kisses but I was gentle with her and talked to her the whole time I was grooming her.  She let me look at her teeth and clean her eyes and ears and was fine."  Christie is not possessive of toys, treats or food.  They add that Christie is a very, very sweet little girl!
