Baby - In Foster Care

Name: Baby
Age: Estimated 9 years
Sex: Female (altered)
Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Location: Miami, FL

Vet Info: Baby is confirmed spayed.  Baby is up to date on vaccines and is next due for a rabies vaccine on 2/7/16.  She also received her Da2pp and Bordetella vaccines on 2/7/15.  She is heartworm negative.  Baby weighs about 21 pounds.

Owner Info: DOB estimated 3/30/06. Baby is a gorgeous little girl who is in need of a new home.  Her owner was helping a friend by temporarily caring for Baby, but the friend never came back for Baby due to relocation.  She has had Baby for about 6 years.  Baby's current owner has two jobs and has to travel a lot for work.  She also has health issues, and she is unable to care for Baby.  She is very much hoping we will have a place for Baby. Baby is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.  She knows the commands, Sit, Stay, and Come, and she also responds to Spanish!    Baby is good with both men and women, and cats.  She is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never bitten or snapped.  Baby's owner doesn't have other dogs, but said that when she's walking Baby and other dogs come up to her to smell her, Baby is calm, but after a little while, may growl a bit.  She believes that this is because they are strange dogs and Baby can't see their signals.  Baby also stayed at a friend's house for a few days.  Baby was fine with the friend's male and female dog, but the friend's female dog did not like Baby.  Her owner writes that Baby may bark a lot when someone comes into the house because she wants them to know that she is there!

Her owner says that other than her eye problem, Baby has been a healthy dog.  She gave us more details about Baby's eye condition: "She is well now. She had an onset of glaucoma and it was so quick, that even with all kinds of medications for over a month and a half, her eyes were not getting better. She was treated to remove the eye pressure, but would not keep her eyesight. I feel that she can see light and dark, but she is blind and I keep her on a leash when outside and just keep her close when needed and let her run with me and she acts just as normal and LOVES going out for walks!! :)"  Her owner wants us to know that Baby is a great dog!!!  "I have been PRAYING to find only the BEST PLACE for a lovely lady. She deserves that and more. She is calmed down a lot. She needs more TLC than she is receiving now because of TIME. She will only make a family very, very happy and proud to have her as an addition to their family."
