Oreo - Adopted

Name: Oreo
Age: 6 years
Breed: Chow/Border Collie
Sex: Male (altered)
Location: Framingham, MA area

Vet Info: Oreo is confirmed neutered and up to date on vaccines.  He is next due for his rabies vaccine in November, 2017.  He received the distemper vaccine on 10/10/14.  Oreo's owner writes that he is heartworm negative, but this has not yet been confirmed.  Oreo weighs about 55 pounds. Oreo had very bad glaucoma and had his eyes removed about two weeks ago.  His owner writes that he's recovering very well!

Owner Info:  Oreo is a very handsome fellow who is looking for a new home.   His current owner got him from a friend who had rescued him from a shelter.  That person's pug started attacking Oreo, so his current owner brought him to Massachusetts because her stepfather had been wanting a dog. Unfortunately, her stepfather now has health issues and isn't able to care for Oreo anymore, and so she now has Oreo.  She has several rescue dogs and cats and is not able to care for Oreo the way he deserves. Oreo is an indoor dog confined to one area of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Oreo is good with people of all ages!  He is not possessive of toys, treats, or food and has never shown aggression.  Oreo's owner gave us more details about how he is with other dogs: "Oreo came from a shelter to live with a lovely woman who thought she could care for him in upstate New York. Their pug constantly attacked poor oreo who never saw it coming. Also the daughter ended up with stitches. At any rate - they also had another dog besides the pug who Oreo had no problems with whatsoever. He was a male. When I placed Oreo with my step father - he was around a small female dog who he had no issues with. At the vets however, a large dog came over to check Oreo out and Oreo growled. So I guess I don't have a definitive answer for you. I have seen him around dogs and do well. I don't know why he growled at the dog at the vets." Oreo's owner feels he adjusts well to new situations and writes that he adjusted very well to three different homes in a short period of time.  His owner wants us to know that he's a very sweet dog who just wants to be loved and be with his owner!  "Oreo is a very sweet dog who requires very little; if circumstances permitted, we would keep him in a heartbeat but he deserves a loving home with less chaos (i.e. so many other animals) than we can provide."

Update 5/9/15: We've received this update from Oreo's owner and it's getting very hot in her garage.  She's getting desperate to find Oreo a new home or rescue!

"It's starting to get really hot in the garage :(.  Many sad faces. I know you are all trying your darnest... I'm just moving into desperation."
