Emma - Outcome Unknown

Name:  Emma
Breed:  Cocker Spaniel
Age:  9 - 11 years
Sex:  Female (altered per owner, not verified)
Location: Fayetteville, NC area

Vet Info: Emma is spayed per her owner, but this is not able to be verified as she was spayed prior to being with her owner.  Emma is not up to date on vaccines and has not had a recent heartworm test.  She weighs about 20 pounds.

Owner Info: Emma is a beautiful Cocker Spaniel whose owner can no longer afford the medical care she needs.  Emma also has a hard time around her owner's young son, and hides whenever he is loud.  She is hoping for a new home for sweet Emma where she will be taken care of and loved.  Emma has been with her owner almost four years. Emma is an indoor dog with run of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.  Her owner writes Emma can sit if you take two fingers lightly across her head and say sit, and if you tap the top of her crate at night, she will hop right in!  Emma is good with men and women and older children/teenagers, and male and female dogs and cats!  She is a very sweet little girl and is not possessive of toys, treats, or food, and has never shown any aggression.  Emma is completely blind.  Her owner tells us she used to see shadows but cannot any more, and to her knowledge, Emma is in very good health considering her age.  Emma's owner gave us more details about how Emma does in new situations:  "When she first went blind she just seemed to get around just like before. We take her to my mother in laws when we go visit and she got around there just as easy as at home. She does however tend to pee on her self if you try and pick her up or suddenly touch her without saying anything first to let her know your there." Emma's owner wants us to know that Emma is a super sweet and amazing girl!  "Emma is a great dog she is happy just laying in your lap all day. This is extremely hard for our family but this is what is best for her. She needs someone who can afford to take her to the vet regularly. She does need to have someone that can stay with her most of the day. She is crate trained but we only put her in the crate when we go to bed, and then out first thing in the morning. She loves people and children, but since she went blind loud noises scare her so she would do better with older children and in a quiet house hold. Emma is a very special dog and as hard as this is for us she deserves the best possible home."

Update 7/6/15: We've heard from Emma's owner and Emma is still in need of rescue! She is still available and she is doing well. We have started having to feed her wet food because she stopped eating her hard food. But since the switch she has been eating fine.
