Milo - In Memory

Name:    Milo
Age:       12 years
Breed:    Jack Russell
Sex:       Male (altered)
Location:  Northeastern Ontario, Canada

Vet Info:  Milo is confirmed neutered.  His owner writes that Milo is up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative, but this has not yet been confirmed.  His owner is not sure of Milo's weight.  Milo is diabetic and receives an injection twice a day.  His owner tells us he is blind due to being diabetic.

Owner Info:  OS received the following heartfelt email from a local organization contacted by Milo's family:
"I was contacted by the family of Milo in hopes that they could find a compassionate long term foster or placement thru a specialized rescue. The family is very sad that they are in this position as the Milo's dad has to leave town in order to work. We come from a very high unemployment rate and Milo's dad, like so many others, has had to leave the area in order to go to work.
Milo is a very loved 12 year old Jack Russell. He suffers with diabetes which resulted in his blindness. He is good with small dogs . Milo does have children that he lives with who are 7 and 3 but the owner cautioned me about placing him with children who he does not know. Milo has never bit anyone but know how little kids can be sometimes.  Other then that he is healthy and frankly the vet said really it's not Milo's time.He has life still in him.
Milo's dad and his children want to continue to support Milo and have contact with rescue or placement. The family is very very sad and it is one of the saddest and most difficult dogs I have ever had to help.

Milo's owner has also written a heartfelt plea:
"...he is a 12 year old jack Russell and for that last couple year he has developed diabetes and because of that he is now blind and I am so heart broken to have to move to Ottawa and can't keep him because of my move and I do not want him put down because he has been a family member to me my wife and two kids since he has been a puppy I want the best for him since has been the best fella for me and my family this is why I have turn for help..." and he adds, "Milo has always been here for us".  He has tried posting on Kijji and has tried shelters in the area, with no luck.

Milo is an indoor dog with run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained.  Milo is good with men and women and currently lives with two children. Milo is good with other dogs and cats, and his owner gave us more details:  "he is able to be around cats and dog and kids because I have a 3 and 7 year old and have a cat that past away last year and my dog has been around my moms dogs and she has 8 of them but she had no way to take milo since she got sick herself."

His owner adds that Milo "has been the heart and soul of our family" and is very much hoping we can help.

Does anyone have room for this sweet fellow?

Update 1/25/16: We've heard from Milo's owner, and Milo will be able to stay with a friend temporarily.   They are still looking for rescue or a new home as soon as possible for Milo as the friend isn't able to keep him and also works 12-hour shifts, which will be hard for Milo.
