Shelby - In BDRA Foster Care

Age: 6 years approximately

Vet/Medical Info: Shelby has only been to this vet a few times, but they were able 

to say she's up to date with vaccines,although could not give info as to when they're 

next due, as the vaccines were given elsewhere. Shelby is not spayed. She is 

heartworm negative confirmed by a heartworm test given 6/19/12.  Shelby is 

diabetic.  They had no other relevant medical information. 

Owner Info: Shelby was found on the side of the road, she is now being cared for  by the daughterof the people that found her. Her husband doesn't want a pet and 

she cannot continue to take care of her financially, especially with her being diabetic.

Shelby hascataracts, she bumps into walls. They believe she has limited peripheral 

vision and think the diabetes may be the cause of blindness. She has a wonderful 

temperament.  They have contacted local animal shelters and they are all full, they 

have asked church folks, neighbors, etc. if they would be willing to take her in, but 

with her being blind and diabetic they have been unwilling to consider. Shelby is an 

indoor dog confined to one area of the house, she is housebroken and leash trained.

Shelby knows commands such as sit and come. She is extremely well behaved, 

rarely barks and never in the house. She is good with people and children of all 

ages, good with other dogs, cats and small animals. Shelby recently moved from a 

very large pen at her current carers parent's home where she stayed outdoors, to 

inside her current home. She has adapted very well, was nervous with steps going into 

the house at first, but isn't anymore. She does not go upstairs though. She is a 

very sweet dog. She's great with kids, and one would hardly know she is in the 

house. Perfect for one who doesn't want a dog to take over their home.
